Efficiency Matrix, is excited to release a new product in Australia, revolutionising the whole downlight lighting arena. The Halogen Mitt and the LED Mitt are a cover and a lamp which retrofit to most downlight fittings. The product is the first of its kind to tackles 4 core problems with down lights:

• Fire risk with insulation. (Mitt has a 2 hour fire rating)
• loss of Insulation effectiveness due to thermal bridging (Cover insulates Downlight fitting)
• High wattage consumption of lamps. (Special Lamps must be used)
• Installation time (The downlight mitt is flexible and can be installed from above or below the ceiling)

In the roof the clearances around the mitt are 0mm for structural members and insulation because there is no ventilation for the lamp up into the roof space. All ventilation is forced into the living area. The halogen lamps which are used with the Downlight Mitt are a 35W 60D Silverback and a 20W 36D ALU. The 35W is equivalent in brightness to a standard 50W halogen lamp. The LED Mitt comprises of a 5W LED lamp which has great brightness compared to lower wattage halogens.

The Downlight Mitt product will in centre stage at the Efficiency Matrix stand(D19) at the Build Green Expo on the 16-18 of October.
