Open your mind and enter a discourse on silence by heading to Tom Kotik's new exhibition in Barcelona.

Art lovers spending time in Barcelona should pop in to the Joan Miro Foundation and check out Tom Kotik's Architectures of Silence.

The exhibition, which is running until April 25th at the prestigious art facility, concerns itself with how silence is constructed and the consequences of the lack of sound.

Among the issues it covers it the socio-political implications of silence, as well as the materials that allow the state to be achieved.

Tom Kotik, who was born in the Czech Republic but now lives in New York, makes sound art transmitted though silence, according to the venue, a concept which may be too intriguing to miss for many guests at accommodation in Barcelona.

On display at the Joan Miro Foundation will be a selection of his finest work, including Rational Impulse - in which rock music is played at top volume inside two soundproof boxes, so when a person opens and closes the piece they are almost creating silence.

This work has previously been on display in New York art spaces such as the Lesley Heller gallery.

"Kotik constructs a discourse on the dynamics of power and repression and on the strategic and often perverse uses of silence," noted the venue.

Admission costs €8.50, with the facility open from 10:00 to 20:00 (local time) from Tuesday to Saturday and until 14:30 on Sundays and public holidays.

If you're heading to the Architectures of Silence this year, we strongly advise that you book your hoteles en Barcelona as soon as possible, given the huge popularity of the event.
