Fatality at Phakisa mine

Johannesburg. Friday, 3 July 2009. Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited (Harmony) regretfully announces that a fatality occurred at its Phakisa mine in the Free State this morning. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death as this is uncertain.
Harmony’s Chief Executive Officer, Graham Briggs and his management team, express their sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.
“The loss of life is tragic and investigations into the incident are underway. Safety will continue to receive priority attention at all Harmony’s operations,” adds Briggs.
