FireEye and Imperva Integrate Products to Enhance Protection for Critical Applications, Data, and Intellectual Property from Adv
Threat Protection Company and Business Security Company Collaborate to Secure Valuable Information Assets from Cyber Attacks and Compromised Insiders
MILPITAS, Calif. and REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. - Jan 14, 2013 - FireEye®, Inc., the leader in stopping today's new breed of cyber attacks, and Imperva, Inc. (NYSE:IMPV), a pioneer and leader of a new category of data security solutions for high-value business data in the data center, today announced they have successfully integrated their products, in an effort to enhance the ability of enterprises to detect and detain malware and compromised insiders.
Today, advanced cyber attacks are bypassing traditional security defenses using malware to compromise insiders, and then access and exfiltrate sensitive data. In 2011, the Verizon Data Breach report noted that 69% of breached data incorporated malware. And many enterprises remain completely unprepared. For example, the recent high-profile breach in South Carolina relied on malware to infect employees and steal 72 gigabytes of sensitive data. As IT analyst firm Gartner noted in a January 2012 report, Best Practices for Mitigating Advanced Persistent Threats, "There is widespread agreement that advanced attacks are bypassing our traditional signature-based security controls and persisting undetected on our systems for extended periods of time. The threat is real. You are compromised; you just don't know it."
FireEye delivers a unique virtualized detection engine that protects employees from external infection and blocks malicious traffic. Imperva observes, audits, and logs suspicious activity from insiders, enabling security policies to automatically restrict access to sensitive applications, such as SAP and Oracle's E-Business Suite as well as data from "at risk" insiders. By integrating their products, information security teams can automatically identify malware across Web, email, and file share attack vectors and deploy access controls that prevent at risk insiders from accessing sensitive business applications and data.
"The most valuable asset a company owns is its intellectual property and the proprietary information it generates," said Ashar Aziz, founder, vice chairman, and CTO of FireEye. "Cybercriminals and nation-state sponsored attacks are motivated by profit and ideology to steal this information, and insider threats, both malicious and unintentionally compromised, are a primary conduit to this information."
"The sophistication and volume of attacks has been steadily increasing and compromising traditional defense mechanisms," said Amichai Shulman, co-founder and CTO of Imperva. "Advanced threats require a new class of solutions that identify compromised insiders and detect malware across Web, email, and file share attack vectors to limit risk to data."
