The First 600 Point Winner Announced in Carrigaline's Shop September Promotion

Carrigaline businesses award 50 points each to Patricia Forde, the first of 5 winners in the Shop September promotion to encourage shopping in multiple different businesses in the town.

CORK, SEPTEMBER 6 - The first winner of the Carrigdhoun localrewards.ie Shop September promotion was selected at lunchtime last Saturday September 3. At midday the computer randomly selected Patricia Forde from Carrigaline as the holder of a registered card which had been used in the previous 3 days. Having correctly answered a question of skill ("Paris is the capital of which country?") Patricia now receives 50 points from each business in the Carrigaline localrewards.ie program: a total of 600 reward points.

The Shop September promotion is sponsored by The Carrigdhoun and every Saturday in September a new winner is drawn. Anybody using their card in a participating Carrigaline business and registering it before the draw is automatically entered into that Saturdays draw for 600 points. At the end of the month any registered cards which have been used in 2 or more businesses will also be entered into the Grand Prize draw to win €250 and 1,200 points.

The Shop September promotion is part of an ongoing initiative by leading Carrigaline independent businesses to encourage shopping in the town which is situated just minutes from Cork City. To counteract the ease with which residents can shop in the city the local businesses introduced a unique town loyalty card under the name of localrewards.ie. Using technology developed by Cork company myrewardcard.ie the participating businesses can operate their own reward programs which can all be accessed by residents using one card. In this way the businesses operate the loyalty program that best suits their business and the needs of their customers while being part of an a branded town promotion. By using a loyalty card rather than a discount card the businesses also gain the advantages enjoyed by the major supermarket chains while ensuring they can focus their discounts to the most regular customers. The customers in return can see their complete history and balance with every business online at any time.

The Shop September promotion runs ends on September 31 and during this time there will be an additional 3 weekly winners in addition to the Grand Prize winner. Cardholders are automatically entered for the draw when they use a registered card in any of the 12 participating businesses; Pet Essentials, Batemans Shoes, Kool Kidz Korner, Carrigaline Bookshop, Express Tyre Centre, Spice Indian Restaurant, Cahills Menswear, Mano Mano, Chocolate Hair Group, Carrigaline Auto Centre, The Print Studio or Celine's Beauty Rooms.
