Award-winning filmmaker Kenneth Mader (“Passing Darkness” - Winner 2007 Action On Film Female Action Performer of the Year Award) delivers the first live action Afro Samurai tribute film to the Action On Film Fest starring international action actor Percy “Spitfire” Brown (“Numb3rs”, “Life”, “Mortal Kombat: Conquest”) screening on Friday, July 24 in the 8:15pm block at the Regency Academy Theaters, Screen 1, 1003 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena, CA 91105.

With rave reviews pouring in, this film is being hailed as “Amazing” and “Staggering” with “Awesome visuals” and “Great acting”. AOF Reviewer Maria DelleGrazie says “This film... Wow. It had me on the edge of my seat the whole time... I love this film because it sticks to the style of the original show. These guys worked so hard to make it match... Percy Brown is just as awe-inspiring.”

And the Creator of the Action On Film Festival Del Weston says “Ken Mader understands film. His visuals and sound design are spot on. His camera work is perfect. In his new film he not only brings Afro Samurai to the screen; he breathes life into him as well. We love this film and Ken’s work.”

Shot in a style reminiscent of old Shaw Brothers Samurai movies, the film is a kind of prequel to the original Afro Samurai Anime series, as the wife and brother of a fallen Sword Master (Mina Oba and Todd Nagasawa) mourn his brutal slaying and welcome the arrival of Afro Samurai (Percy “Spitfire” Brown) who comes to pay his respects and exact revenge on a rival Kabuki Warrior who has been dispatched by his clan leader to finish the job.

Complete with appearences by Afro’s trusted imaginary sidekick Ninja-Ninja (Christopher “Jinx” McClure) this live action tribute to the popular Anime – the first of its kind – features surprisingly high production values and solid acting performances which culminate in an exciting, action-packed fight sequence punctuated with a rousing original musical score by award-winning composer Alan Derian and special makeup effects by top Hollywood makeup artist James Lacey.

Clocking in at only 9 minutes running time, we learn here at AOF: great things come in small packages.

Strap in for a fun and crazy ride!
