~ More than $19 Million Generated for Education ~

TALLAHASSEE - The Florida Lottery announced today that Scratch-Off ticket sales for the week ending December 24, 2017, exceeded $103.9 million, the highest of any lottery in the country for that week. This Scratch-Off sales week resulted in $19.3 million being generated for the benefit of Florida students and schools.

"At the Florida Lottery, education is our number one priority," said Florida Lottery Secretary Jim Poppell. "We strive to offer players fresh and exciting games that, in turn, maximize contributions to the state's Educational Enhancement Trust Fund."

Last week's sales were led by the $10,000,000 WORLD CLASS CASH Scratch-Off game, with $9.6 million in sales, followed by the $5,000,000 GOLD RUSH DOUBLER Scratch-Off game, with more than $8 million in sales.

Scratch-Off games are an important part of the Lottery's portfolio of games, comprising approximately 68 percent of ticket sales and generating more than $784 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF) in fiscal year 2016-17.


The Florida Lottery is responsible for contributing more than $32 billion to education and sending more than 775,000 students to college through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program. The Florida Lottery reinvests 98 percent of its revenue back into Florida's economy through prize payouts, commissions to more than 13,000 Florida retailers and contributions to education.
