Dubai Business Women Council (DBWC) has announced that its President Raja Al Gurg has been named as one of the most influential Arab women in family business by Forbes Middle East, during an event held recently at The Meydan Hotel in Dubai to celebrate the achievements of the most powerful and influential Arab women in government and family business. The latest recognition for Al Gurg adds to the growing list of accolades bestowed on her in recent months, including being ranked fifth in the CEO Middle East’s 100 most powerful Arab women in 2012 list and the ‘Most Influential Arab Woman in Family Business’ award presented during the Forbes Middle East CEOs Forum held last year.
Commenting on the award, Raja Al Gurg said, “This recognition from Forbes Middle East is a tribute to all the women who are keen on overcoming social barriers to realize their full potential and pursue their dreams. I am fortunate that I have been able to influence and motivate other women to demonstrate their entrepreneurial skills and prove themselves in a highly competitive, male-dominated business environment. I dedicate this award to all the women in the Arab world who have overcome various challenges and remained committed to achieving their goals, while contributing to the socioeconomic growth of their respective countries.”
Founded in 2002, DBWC motivates women to be productive members of the society, while encouraging role models to rise up from the ranks and inspire other women around the world, especially in the Arab region, to discover their true potential. DBWC organises the high-profile monthly event ‘Network Majlis’ to provide information about the latest knowledge, skills and best practices for women entrepreneurs and leaders (www.dbwc.ae).
