Lochlands Mill may only have opened its doors in late 2013, but, with support from Business Gateway, the café and country stores complex has already established itself as a top destination for Forfar shoppers.

“When we took over the property last year our goal was to create an inviting environment where visitors could spend a few hours browsing in a range of high quality retail outlets or enjoy a coffee and scone or even a two course lunch in our picturesque café,” said Phillip Ritchie.

“Our equestrian retailer, Larder and fishing tackle shop are proving extremely popular and we are looking to bring in a few more retailers, perhaps a florist and country clothing outlet, in the coming months.”

Although Phillip and his family have plenty of business experience they knew they would benefit from specialist local business knowledge and that was when they approached Business Gateway.

“Our Business Gateway adviser has been a great support and has used his extensive network of contacts to help us get the business moving. He understood all the issues we faced throughout the start-up process and helped us with our marketing and HR.”

Business Gateway Adviser, Mike Hamilton added, “Lochlands Mill has made a great start and Phillip knows that Business Gateway will be there to support him as he takes his plans forward.”
