FORMER PROJECT DIRECTOR FOR GL INDUSTRIAL SERVICES AND CURRENT VICE-PRESIDENT OF THE EUROPEAN GAS RESEARCH GROUP (GERG) JOINS WA
Company applies for and begins process to obtain BASEEFA certification for its GASPT2 device
TUALATIN, Ore. – March 16, 2010 – Waytronx, Inc. (OTCBB: WYNX), one of the World’s premier licensing companies specializing in the acquisition and commercialization of proprietary, leading edge technologies today announced the appointment of former GL Industrial Services (“GL”) Project Director Terry Williams, to serve as its Project Director and Lead Engineer for the GASPT2 device. Williams, based in the UK, will focus on managing and coordinating the manufacturing relationship with Ingenion; the BASEEFA certification process; and sales in Europe and Asia.
In a separate action, Waytronx announced that it has completed and submitted its application to acquire BASEEFA certification for the company and its GASPT2 device. BASEEFA is a world renowned certification body, principally concerned with electrical and mechanical equipment intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. Research work into explosions in hazardous atmospheres has been carried out at its Buxton facility in the UK since the 1920’s and BASEEFA is currently one of the largest, most respected organizations in the world dedicated to this type of work.
The GASPT2, designed by GL, is a low cost solution for measuring gas quality. It can be connected to a natural gas system to provide a fast, accurate, close to real time measurement of the gas physical properties, such as thermal conductivity, speed of sound and carbon dioxide content. From these measurements it infers an effective gas mixture comprising four components: methane, propane, nitrogen, and measured carbon dioxide and then uses ISO6976 to calculate the gas quality characteristics of calorific value (CV), Wobbe index (WI), relative density (RD), and compression factor (Z). It is the only device of its kind currently available to the natural gas industry.
The collaboration between Waytronx and Terry Williams began when Waytronx first acquired the technology from GL and became formalized on January 1, 2010, after Williams retired from GL.
Along with his experience at GL, Williams is a chartered engineer with a successful track record in technical development, project management, account management, consultancy and business development. His early career responsibilities for design, installation and commissioning of gas and electrical heat treatment systems on petrochemical and drilling rig contracts spanned facilities in Europe and the Middle East.
With over 30 years experience at British Gas, BG Technology, Advantica and GL, Williams managed the development and implementation of new technology for offshore and onshore gas processing, transmission and utilization plants.
Williams was awarded “Engineer of the Year 1999” by the Institution of Gas Engineers for the development and implementation of a £2 million international, cross-industry funded R&D programme addressing carbon monoxide and safety issues in residential gas use. Williams, currently Vice-President of GERG, the EU organization dedicated to improving natural gas technology including gas quality and interchangeability standards, will become President of that organization later this year.
Commenting on Williams appointment, William Clough, president & CEO of Waytronx stated, “Our association with Terry insures and confirms our credibility in the natural gas industry. Terry is an internationally recognized expert in gas quality and interchangeability issues. His association with Waytronx and engineering support of GASPT2 give us a pathway into the industry which would have been otherwise unavailable.”
“Terry recently provided testimony as an expert witness before the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in Washington DC at hearings into gas quality issues and gas interchangeability impact on downstream gas equipment through LNG importation into North America,” continued Clough. “That appearance, along with his World-class reputation allows Terry a degree of respect and credibility within the natural gas industry which is unparalleled and our association with him will open doors to the largest gas producers and transporters in that rapidly expanding marketplace.”
For his part, Williams stated, “I am quite excited about my association with Waytronx and its GASPT2 device. This device is the only method by which natural gas quality can be measured in the pipeline, producing close to real-time data.”
“Having now begun the certification process with BASEEFA, Waytronx is on its way to providing a device which will address gas quality and interchangeability in 95% of the natural gas market; providing a relatively inexpensive solution to such functions as product transfer and fiscal monitoring,” explained Williams.
“My initial duties at Waytronx will be to facilitate the BASEEFA certification of our product, the company, and our manufacturer, Ingenion. My experience with both BASEEFA and Ingenion; their close proximity to each other; and the fact that Ingenion is already producing the earlier generation, GASPT1, should greatly enhance and expedite our time-to-market,” commented Williams.
Clough concluded by stating that, “hiring Terry is yet another step in our move to introduce this new, exciting electronic device into the natural gas industry; thus, building on our portfolio of leading edge technologies and partnerships with some of the World’s finest companies like GL.”
