Fortify Software Comes Out Champion in Bloor's Analyst Report

New report further cements Fortify's leadership position in Application Security

SAN MATEO, Calif., December 1, 2008- Fortify Software, the market leader in enterprise application security solutions for Business Software Assurance, announced today that Bloor Research, in its Market Update on Application Security, placed Fortify Software as a "champion" in their Application Security overview. Further, analyst Nigel Stanley placed Fortify in the ideal position within the Bloor Bullseye. This announcement comes as Fortify Software was also named the leader in application security by analyst firm Gartner/Dataquest earlier this year in the report Market Share: Application Development Software, Worldwide, 2007. Finally, Fortify was also recognized this year as "Rising Star" in Deloitte's Technology Fast 50 program for Silicon Valley.

Nigel Stanley, Bloor analyst and author of the report, explains that Fortify's "'champion' rating indicates an established vendor with a leading market presence. By contrast, an "innovator" is a vendor with a highly rated product with increasing market share and a "challenger" is an up and coming vendor in this market space. Closer to the centre of the bullseye target is better."

In his report, Stanley predicts that the market for application security is on an upward trend. "The application security market will continue to grow for the foreseeable future. Demand for application security products will increase in line with more legislation and regulations, as well as a desire for better overall corporate security hygiene."

Stanley also notes that, "Applications need to be secured during the software development process, not as an afterthought. Code security reviews must now form part of the rigorous checks development teams take during the daily build and software development life cycle (SDLC). Legislation and regulations are now catching up with the need to ensure application security and some standards, such as PCI DSS, the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards, explicitly demand that software code security checks take place."
