Günter Idinger elected to International Electrotechnical Commission Council Board
VIENNA … Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today announced that Günter Idinger, Electrical Sector VP of Sales for Central & Eastern Europe and Russia, has been elected as a member of the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) Council Board (CB). Idinger’s appointment was made at the General Assembly of the IEC in early October and he will serve on the Council Board for three years from January 2013.
The IEC Council Board is a decision-making body equivalent to the Board of Directors in a company and is responsible for making policy recommendations to the IEC Council, implementing Council policy as well as overseeing day-to-day management and operational functions (except finance).
The news of Idinger’s appointment to the IEC Council Board follows a recent video address by Tom Gross, Eaton’s Electrical Sector Vice-Chairman and Chief Operating Officer, to over one thousand delegates at the IEC Annual Convention in Oslo. In his address, Gross underscored the critical importance of interoperability standards as a catalyst for innovation in the electrical industry as well as Eaton’s commitment to the IEC as the most important global standards body.
Commenting on Idinger’s appointment, Eaton’s Electrical Sector President EMEA, Frank Campbell said: “Industry standards are vital because full interoperability helps free capital and human resources for the development of innovative applications to address the industry’s biggest challenges. Eaton recognizes that the IEC, as the custodian of global electrical standards, can only be effective with full and active participation of its members and leadership. We are delighted and honored that Günter Idinger has been elected to the IEC’s most important decision-making body and we will ensure he has full support from Eaton to meet and hopefully exceed the expectations the IEC have of him in this important role.”
Commenting on his appointment, Idinger said: “It is a great honor to be elected to the IEC Council Board and I look forward to playing a full and active role in making recommendations to the Council and making operational decisions. My objective is to help to shape the development and implementation of policies that will support the IEC’s mission to facilitate international trade and enhance user value in the fields of electricity, electronics and associated technologies.”
Eaton’s electrical business is a global leader in power distribution, power quality, control and automation, power monitoring, and energy management products and services. Eaton is positioned through its global electrical product series, to answer today’s most critical electrical power management challenges.
