With increasing turnover and plans to open a third shop at the end of June, there is no doubt Angus business, Backyard Games is making a big impact on the local business scene.

Since launching in 2012 – with support from Business Gateway – William Stephen has seen a steady increase in the number of gamers coming to his shops in Arbroath and Brechin looking for new and retro games and consoles.

The business is going from strength to strength and we are planning to open a third shop in Montrose at the end of June,” said William.   “Starting a business is challenging however, I have had great support from a number of people and my dad has been there every step of the way.

“Business Gateway has been really helpful and my adviser supported me through both the start-up and growth process.  He has a fantastic set of contacts and introduced us to a number of organisations, including the Princes Trust Youth Business Scotland.

“It is great to know I can pick up the phone to Business Gateway whenever I have an issue.”

Although William is busy planning the opening of his third shop, the entrepreneur also has an eye on the future and hopes to open a fourth outlet in Inverurie in the coming months.
