Geek IT Stores, commenced today sale of its low end "Grameen" mobile phone for Class "C" locations in India. The low end mobile phone has been a "dream come true" for Indian rural market.

Mobile phone users will be able to purchase these handsets in price range of 800 to 2200 depending on features such as colour screen, bluetooth & wi-fi.

" We have applied for a manufacturing license in India for low end handsets,awaiting FDI clearance for our foriegn partners" commented Amit Nayak, CEO Geek IT Stores.

The Indian mobile handsets market has skyrocketed to an annual consumption of 77,000 crores , & with more than 10% of illegal chinese mobile users facing ban on handsets, the market need for localized handsets has quadrupled.

The MSAI had initiated the appointment of genuine IMEI implantation centres at 1600 locations nationwide and the deadline for implementation of genuine IMEI was December 1. Telecom providers have approached the government for an extension for IMEI implementation, which has been declined as of now.
