Ottawa, ON — An Aurora CP140 aircraft recently arrived in Canada equipped with a new Data Management System (DMS), Acoustic Suite subsystem, Integrated Mission System and reconfigurable crew stations integrated by General Dynamics Canada. Part of the Aurora Incremental Modernization Project (AIMP), the prototype Block III, CP140 will enhance the operational effectiveness of long-range patrol aircraft used by Canadian Forces.
The arrival of the AIMP Block III prototype in Canada marks a significant achievement for the project and its industry partners. The integrated mission system developed by General Dynamics Canada, along with world-class sensors, will equip Canada’s Aurora aircraft with the necessary surveillance capabilities for enhanced domestic and international missions. It is the first fully modernized AIMP aircraft to proceed to full-scale acceptance testing.
“General Dynamics Canada has established a solid reputation for delivering multi-sensor, integrated mission systems,” said David Ibbetson, general manager of General Dynamics Canada. “The delivery of the modernized Aurora, fitted out with a General Dynamics Canada mission suite on-board, is a significant achievement and accomplishment. That we get to do so in our home base of operations and deliver to the men and women of the Canadian Forces, is a moment of pride and patriotism.”
Capable of performing surface and undersea maritime and overland surveillance, the aircraft will be operated by the Canadian Department of National Defence as a long-range and strategic airborne asset.
