BSAS members are being given the chance to access animal science on demand thanks to the society's new video library.

Members will be able to catch-up on BSAS conferences they missed, review important sections of presentations, and potentially even watch themselves presenting thanks to a video service being unveiled this week.

The BSAS On Demand library is part of the society’s ongoing commitment to find new and innovative ways to support members’ learning and share animal science knowledge.

After running trials at several events over the past 12 months, BSAS will now be filming at many of its meetings and training events to ensure as many members as possible have access to them.

Bruce Beveridge, BSAS chief executive, said as well as building a lasting resource for society members, using video will also allow BSAS to livestream animal science to a global audience.

Our Global Association members in developing countries will be able to access the on-demand service and livestreams free of charge, helping them access information, advice and skills they might otherwise not have access to,” he said.

“As an educational charity, this is a service BSAS is proud to offer, and we’re committed to helping our overseas colleagues where we can,” he said.

To fund this charitable activity, the content will be marketed on a pay-per-view basis to non members through the Vimeo video platform.

Educational packages will also be promoted to universities and other educational establishments, and the society will also offer digital capture and live-streaming services to other organisations and sister societies.
