Datacraft China, Asia’s leading independent IT solutions and services company, has signed a US$1 million contract to supply and install a state-of-the-art video conferencing system linking the mainland offices of a global consumer brand leader.

Bangkok, Thailand (PressReleasePoint), November 15, 2008 -- Targeted for completion in December 2008, the TelePresence system will provide sophisticated video conferencing equipment enabling parties in different office locations to communicate as if they are in the same conference room. The new system will initially connect the company’s two major business centres in Beijing and Guangzhou, before its roll-out to the remaining mainland offices.

The installation of TelePresence in the company’s mainland offices is part of a regional roll-out undertaken by Datacraft across the region, which will ultimately see daily links established among all the company’s offices in Asia as well as its global operations.

“China is becoming the most important manufacturing hub and consumer marketplace for our client. In order to successfully execute complex business processes over multiple cities across China and internationally, it is essential for the company to have access to the most effective collaboration tools available today,” said Shum Mew Toong, Datacraft’s General Manager, China

Each venue will be linked by IP Telephony and will feature Cisco TelePresence 3000 equipment, 65” high definition plasma screens, microphones and cameras in a combination that will contribute to a dramatically life-like ‘same room’ meeting experience.

The realistic images and video clarity of TelePresence enables participants to clearly see colleagues’ expressions and movements, while the CD-quality audio allows every spoken word to be clearly heard. This compares favourably with earlier conferencing solutions which suffered from poor quality connections, distorted sound and frequent dropped lines – factors that limited widespread use of conferencing services until now.

This solution is well suited for a wide variety of day-to-day tasks such as long distance point-to-point or multi-point video conference calls, customer service interaction, troubleshooting in remote locations; sales demonstrations, design collaboration and staff meetings.

“Today, rapid international expansion is common place for many successful multinational companies and TelePresence is increasingly seen as an essential tool for these cutting edge businesses to maintain close control of their vast operations. More importantly, TelePresence plays a major role in supporting product innovation, bolstering collaboration with partners and customers and speeding decision-making, it also helps to improve quality of life and serves to minimize the company’s carbon footprint, by reducing business travel,” added Shum.
