Good Life Tampa Bay Attends 12th Annual Latinos Unidos Conference and Luncheon

Good Life Tampa Bay TV Show was there to interview local officials about this special event and what it means to the community and future generations.

March 17, 2010, Tampa, Florida – Good Life Tampa Bay, Tampa Bay’s premier lifestyle show that reports on local flavor from the fast-growing Tampa Bay market was there as more than 500 community members and elected officials attended the Mayor’s 12th Annual Latinos Unidos Conference and Luncheon at the Hyatt Hotel in Tampa. The event is hosted annually by the Mayor’s Hispanic Advisory Council.
The conference and luncheon brings together business and community leaders and others to promote and showcase the cultural and financial influence Latinos have in the community and also to provide funds for college scholarships.
“Our goal is to raise funds for higher education,” said chair of the Mayor’s Hispanic Advisory Council Maritza Rovira-Forino. “Proceeds from this event are going to students attending the University of Tampa.”
Mayor Pam Iorio declared May 20 as Latinos Unidos Day in Tampa and recognized former Florida Governor and former Tampa Mayor Bob Martinez for his role in creating the Hispanic Advisory Council.
“Each year the Latinos Unidos luncheon is a highlight because it really showcases the economic impact of the Latinos in the Tampa Bay community,” said Mayor Iorio. “We can’t lose sight of the fact that our community is a diverse one and this luncheon highlights that.”
Keynote speaker, Vince Roig, from the Helios Organization, reminded the audience that as a community they all owe a debt to the generation behind them to ensure that that generation is prepared to lead. He also spoke about the importance of ethics in everyday life and the fact that education is truly a renewable resource. Following his address, Mayor Iorio presented Vince with a City of Tampa ceremonial plate.
The Good Life Tampa Bay fully supports the mission to improve education and quality of life for all in the Tampa Bay area, which is after all what the good life truly depends on.
