Behavioral modification device features pre-set timer, triggering glowing moon and sun caricatures, teaching children the right time for bed at night and when it's okay to get out of bed in the morning.

Atlanta, GA, July 16, 2010 (PressReleasePoint) -- Good Nite Lite, LLC announces its first product to market, the Good Nite Lite behavioral modification device. The Good Nite Lite is designed to teach children the right time for bed at night and the appropriate time to get out of bed in the morning, using a glowing caricature face that changes from a moon to a sun at pre-set times.

Young children rely on the natural rise and fall of the sun to determine their schedules and, unfortunately, this is not the same schedule that parents and families keep. If a child is in the habit of waking up at a certain time, he or she will tend to continue this regular pattern until it is reset. The Good Nite Lite is designed to reset a child's sleeping patterns by using a simple sun and moon approach - symbols that are easily understood by young children.

"I designed the Good Nite Lite because my children would repeatedly get out of bed as soon as their internal clock went off at roughly 5 AM every morning, disrupting the entire family's sleep schedule," says Adam Nelson, inventor of Good Nite Lite. "The kids learned within three days that, if the natural sun was up but 'Mr. Moon' was lit on the Good Nite Lite, they still needed to stay in bed until the device changed to 'Mr. Sun.'"

Good Nite Lite teaches children that, when the Sun caricature turns to the dimly lit Moon caricature, it is time for bed - even if the natural sun is still out. If the child awakes before the time that the parents have pre-set and still sees the Moon caricature, the child begins to understand that it is still time to stay in bed. At the pre-set time, the Good Nite Lite will brighten and display a cheerful Sun caricature, letting the child know that it is an acceptable time to get out of bed and begin the day. During the day, the Good Nite Lite automatically shuts itself off to eliminate any distractions and to conserve energy. "It's a widely accepted fact that children will operate on their own sleep / wake schedule unless that behavior is modified," says Dr. Michael Breus, PhD. "A simple objective device or system has tremendous potential to be an effective behavioral modification tool in these nighttime power struggles. Such a device would let parents 'off the hook' and allow a child to develop personal responsibility for their bedtime and rise time."

At six inches in diameter, the Good Nite Lite plugs directly into any standard outlet, is time zone adjustable and can gradually be set to longer sleep periods until the child is getting a full night's rest. The Good Nite Lite is available for $34.99 at http://www.goodnitelite.com.
