Governor Abbott Appoints Three To Small Business Assistance Advisory Task Force

AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Michael Guyton, Tina C. Mims and Jay Zeidman to the Small Business Assistance Advisory Task Force for terms set to expire June 14, 2017. The task force advises and assists the governor, lieutenant governor and speaker with issues that relate to small businesses, and provides information in plain language to the public on issues related to small businesses.

Michael Guyton of Mansfield is senior vice president and chief customer officer of Oncor Electric Delivery. He is a past executive board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Texas, past chairman of the board of Tarrant County Metropolitan United Way, board trustee and chairman of the Fort Worth Harris Methodist Hospital and a member of The University of Texas at Arlington Foundation Board. Guyton received a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from The University of Texas at Arlington.    

Tina C. ​Mims of Little Elm is the executive director of the Texas Woman’s University Hub for Women in Business. Previously, she served as CEO of First Texas Electric in Dallas and has more than 20 years of service in various roles, including vice president titles at Fortune 1000 firms. She is a member of the American Marketing Association, the Marketing Management Association and the National Association of Notaries and a former board member of the American Marketing Association Dallas Chapter. ​ Mims received a Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing and economics from The University of Texas at Arlington, a Master of Business Administration in marketing and economics from Webster University and a Doctor of Philosophy in marketing and sociology from the University of North Texas.

Jay Zeidman of Houston is the managing director of Resolute Venture Partners. He is a board member of the Texas Christian University National Alumni Board, Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, Emancipation Park and Citizen Schools. Zeidman received a Bachelor of Science in economics and political science from Texas Christian University, where he also served as student body president, and a Master of Business Administration from the Jesse Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University.
