Authority is governing board for multi-modal manufacturing and distribution center in eastern part of state.

(Raleigh, N.C. – Jan. 13, 2013) Jeff Sheehan, Senior Vice President of Duke Realty Corporation’s (Duke Realty) Raleigh office, has been appointed to the North Carolina Global TransPark (GTP) Authority by North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory. Sheehan fills one of two commercial real estate seats on the 20-person board, an independent state agency created to provide guidance on the strategic planning, business development, and real estate activities of the GTP. Located in Kinston, N.C., GTP is a 2,500-acre, multi-modal, business-friendly manufacturing and distribution center designed to meet the logistics needs of businesses through an intermodal transportation network anchored by a cargo airport.

In welcoming Sheehan to the board, the Office of the Governor stated, “The Governor and his advisors believe you will serve a prominent role in transforming the Authority into a viable source of jobs and income for the North Carolina economy.

A long-time North Carolina resident, Sheehan has managed Duke Realty’s Raleigh business unit since 2007. During his six-year-leadership tenure, Duke Realty’s portfolio in Raleigh has grown to 5.5 million square feet and includes industrial, office and medical office properties. Though the majority of Duke Realty’s developments are located in the Raleigh metro area, the company has delivered two buildings in GTP.

“I look forward to my involvement with the Authority and contributing to the ongoing growth of the GTP,” said Sheehan. “The transportation options available in the park, including ready access to air, rail, highways and North Carolina’s two international ports, make this an ideal location for business, especially those involved in logistics, defense contracting and manufacturing.”
