Small group adventure tour operator Gap Adventures encourages travellers to ‘see the world’ and to help local people see it to.

London, October 8, 2010—Gap Adventures is launching a worldwide 10% sale for 10/10/10 inviting travellers to Do The Right Thing and donate some or all of the discount to reduce avoidable blindness in the developing world.

The unique promotion will run from Friday to Monday across the 10/10/10 weekend offering 10% off all small group adventures for all travellers quoting promo code 10-10-10. By donating as little as £30, less than 10% of the cost of an adventure holiday, Gap Adventures will be able to create a little more happiness and gift back someone’s vision through their non-profit foundation, Planeterra.

Thanks to donations from Gap Adventures travellers and staff, Planeterra was recently able to fund a recent Eye Camp in Amdo Province of Tibet that restored the sight of 207 people aged 7 to 95. Planeterra’s eye camps began in Tibet as the region has one of the highest rates of preventable blindness in the world.

The eye camps are particularly close to the hearts of those at Gap Adventures, since these simple surgeries are one of the most cost-effective ways to reduce poverty and dramatically improve the quality of life for those treated. With work on the Tibetan eye camp completed for this year, funds raised through ‘10% for 10/10/10’ will help expand Planeterra’s work and give the gift of 20/20 sight by building and supporting a permanent eye clinic in Cambodia.
