Greece - OTE supports the helpline 800 11 800 15 for children
Participating in the effort for safer internet use OTE, in the context of its Corporate Responsibility program, installed and supports the Helpline "Ypostirizo" (Support) 800 11 800 15 / help@saferinternet.gr, of the Greek Centre for Safer Internet.
The Helpline 800 11 800 15, operates free of charge for local and long distance calls and is staffed with specialized child-psychologists on internet use / abuse issues for the children and the adolescents. It is aimed at adolescents and their families that need information and advice on subjects related with the use of Internet, mobile telephony and electronic games. The Greek Centre for Safer Internet participates actively in the European Network “Insafe” and is under the auspice of the European Committee. The Adolescents’ Health Unit of the Second Pediatric Clinic of the University of Athens is responsible for the Helpline.
While broadband penetration is rapidly advancing in Greece and the internet use is becoming an integral part of children’s everyday life, the correct and systematic information of the public requires coordinated action and cooperation among various institutions. With the support of the Helpline 800 11 800 15 OTE makes a step towards this direction.
It is reminded that OTE already offers specialized "Parental Control" service. This is integrated at the "Online Protection" tool with Conn-x. "Parental Control" filters and blocks access to illegal and harmful pages, hence giving to parents the ability to control the internet access of their children any time and be sure that they won’t be exposed to violent, adult, gambling content etc.
