Singapore, September 11th, 2009 - Greenyarn, a Boston nanotech startup developing advanced, eco-friendly fabrics and apparel for consumers, has just launched it new smart undergarment and is doing so at a charity event TwestivalSG which is happening on 12 September 2009, in Chinatown, Singapore.

TwestivalSG is a social media meet up for a good cause. Singapore’s going to have it’s very first Twestival, where volunteers get to hold one to raise funds for a local charity -- the Children’s Cancer Foundation.

Located in Chinatown, on a Saturday, starting from 11:00 am. to 3:00 pm., TwestivalSG promises to be a conveniently located hub fun filled with activities for the family. They target to raise and additional $10,000 for the Children’s Cancer Foundation from the event and they have already got $15,500 from other sponsors.

Organized using social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, the success of this event would be a testament of how Charities could leverage on Social Media on promoting their events and causes.

Greenyarn is introducing new Eco-Fabric(TM) briefs and underwear at this event, and profits from the sale of the underwear as well as other Greenyarn products will go towards the Children’s Cancer Foundation.

“I’m glad to be part of this event, as all companies who preach sustainability should also consider corporate social responsibility, and give back to the public whenever possible.” Said Robin Low, CEO if Greenyarn. “It will also help create more awareness, and help the children with Cancer.”

The new 2010 range of Smart Underwear is no stranger to social media. During a TweetUP (Tweeter Meeting), the undergarments were previewed by many tweeps(people who use twitter) in Singapore and many of them found the undergarments really comfortable. The underwear provide great comfort as it is made from the finest Eco-fabric and lycra, woven by a highly advanced seamless machine. In fact, there is a hashtag, #bumfondle, on some of the special edition underwear as they were described as “so soft, I would like to touch them”.

Containing Eco-fabric, the smart undergarments are tested to have the following properties; deodorizing, antibacterial, antifungal, thermally regulating, and static free. All the benefits come from Bamboo Charcoal and not added chemicals, so Eco-Fabric is also environmentally friendly. Other products that Greenyarn has created with Eco-Fabric(TM) include dress and sport socks, shoe insoles, undergarments and shoes.

Nanotechnology clothing is an emerging trend that uses the science of ultra-small machines and materials to add exciting new characteristics to products that were previously not possible. Greenyarn applies it's patented nanoparticle technology to creating fabrics and apparel with novel qualities such as enhanced absorption of odors and anti-bacterial characteristics.

The products once only available to astronauts, are now also available in Singapore to the public to experience the comfort and benefits of the advanced materials.
