Griffith Business School has been rated in the top 200 globally in the prestigious 2014 Academic Rankings of World Universities (ARWU).

The result recognises Griffith Business School (GBS) as one of Australia’s best performing business schools and among the top 2% world-wide.

As one of only two business and economics schools in Queensland included in the top 200, GBS continues to affirm itself as a leader in business research and education.

“It is important to acknowledge that the ARWU index is based on objective data relating to research performance, so the ranking is absolute testament to the remarkable work being done by the entire Griffith Business School,” Pro Vice Chancellor of Griffith Business School, Professor Michael Powell said.

“Within the Economics and Business research area we are rated equal seventh throughout the country, leaving little doubt of the quality of research and education provided by Griffith Business School.

“Our School of Government and International Relations has also assisted to ensure Griffith maintains its status among the top 200 global rankings within the Social Sciences research sector.”

Contributions by the Griffith Business School have also assured Griffith maintained its status among the top 400 institutions globally, and one of only two south-east Queensland universities in the top 500.

And Professor Powell predicts even greater success into the future following the recent opening of a new $38 million dollar Griffith Business School building on the Gold Coast campus.

“Already we have unveiled stage one in the rollout of the Bloomberg Professional service on the Gold Coast and will set up a similar trading room environment at Nathan campus next year,” said Professor Powell.

“Our investment in the future continues with the rollout of two new masters degrees in finance to begin 2015, which will provide even greater depth to our research arms.”

This is the third consecutive year Griffith has been ranked in the top 4% of world universities by the prestigious ARWU index.
