New York, NY – May 2, 2011 – Haights Cross Communications, a premier educational and library publisher, has announced the appointment of Rich Freese as President and Chief Executive Officer of its Recorded Books, LLC, division. Recorded Books, based in Prince Frederick, MD, is the world’s largest independent producer of audiobooks. The appointment is effective today.


Ron Schlosser, Haights Cross Communications’ President and Chief Executive Officer, said: “Rich has an extensive leadership background in the publishing industry, including companies specializing in trade, professional, scientific and technical, software, audio, and e-book products. Freese comes to Recorded Books with over 30 years’ experience in the publishing industry.
Most recently, he was president of National Book Network, the distribution division of Rowman & Littlefield Publishing. He has also held senior leadership positions with BookMasters Distribution Services and Atlas Books, Publishers Group West, MBI Publishing Company, International Thompson, and other publishing companies. He earned a BA in history from Lynchburg College in Virginia.
