Grimsby, Ontario, Canada., January 31, 2013 - (PressReleasePoint) - Handling Specialty Manufacturing in Grimsby, Ontario, has added to its rail product line an environmentally-friendly, emission free, battery operated railcar mover engineered and manufactured in Europe for over 40 years, with over 500 units in operation in some of Europe’s busiest railyards.
Handling Specialty, which is a member of the Whiting family of companies, has been selling custom engineered and manufactured heavy duty equipment, including rail and transportation equipment, for 50 years. When the company was acquired by Whiting in 2011, Transportation Product Specialist Rick Breznik also joined the Handling team, thus bringing Whiting’s rail equipment to the company’s product offering as well.
Over the past year Handling Specialty has watched its sales of rail equipment – such as electric jacks, drop tables and other rail maintenance – rise, with recent sales successes in North America, South America, India and other locations around the world. These recent sales successes, coupled with his over 30 years’ experience in the rail maintenance equipment field, prompted Breznik to seek out a railcar mover solution that would complement the company’s current offerings.
“Working closely with rail customers, we have come to realize there is a definite need for an electric (battery operated) railcar mover in rail maintenance and assembly facilities,” says Breznik. “Rail maintenance facility operators are always focused on getting maintenance tasks done quickly, to get the rail vehicle back up and working again. To do this quickly and efficiently, they need to be moving rail vehicles in and out of the maintenance areas. This is where an electric railcar mover can make their jobs a lot easier.”
Breznik notes: “After doing research, we realized that – for the available number of options, customization, reliability and price -- Zephir is the best electric railcar mover on the market worldwide.”
There are more than 550 Zephir electric railcars currently being used in rail maintenance facilities around the world. Customers include Danish Railways, Trenitalia, Swiss Railways, Bombardier Transportation, Alstom France, Pacific National Queensland, Jindal Rail, Blackpool, Eurorail and many others.
Handling Specialty offers all nine models of the Zephir, starting from 100 ton pulling capacities (draw bar pulls of 5kN and up). To ensure customers buy the exact model they need, Breznik goes through a detailed discussion with customers on their moving requirements and facility layouts.
Customers should also be aware also that the same high quality they have come to expect from Handling Specialty and Whiting will be upheld in the Zephir equipment, as the company has the following certifications:
- ISO 9001/UNI EN ISO 9001:2008
- ISO 14001/UNI EN ISO 14001:2004
- EN 15085-2
