DALLAS –Haynes and Boone, LLP Antitrust Partner
has been named a BTI Client Service All-Star for 2010. He is among 164 attorneys honored worldwide and one of only five antitrust attorneys highlighted inLaw360for consistent excellence in client service.
“David is an exceptionally skilled attorney who strikes a great balance with clients between legal counsel, business adviser and friend,” said Ron Breaux, head of the firm’s antitrust and competition practice. “It is great to see his commitment to excellence recognized publicly.”
Mr. McAtee was nominated by corporate counsel at a Fortune 1000 company for his client focus, exceptional understanding of the clients’ business, efficient service, outstanding results and superior legal skills.
More than 60 percent of corporate counsel nominate their BTI Client Service All-Star for client focus. Mr. McAtee said helping corporate counsel meet their business goals is a sound strategy for winning their appreciation.
“Clients look for a trial lawyer who thinks not only as a trial lawyer but also as a business person,” McAtee said. “Corporate counsel want to get the best results while keeping their business needs in mind, whether those goals are cost containment or sending a message to the marketplace or fighting suits strategically.”
McAtee’s experience has also taught him that in-house counsel want to look good to their superiors just as firm lawyers want to look good to theirs. “I think it's really dangerous to divorce that whole personal side from your legal advice, because you'd be giving legal advice in a vacuum,” he said.
“It is truly an honor to be recognized by our firm's clients. I consider it not only to be a personal compliment, but also a validation of Haynes and Boone's client-centric culture,” McAtee said.
In his practice, Mr. McAtee represents corporate and individual clients in a variety of antitrust, environmental, and complex commercial litigation matters. He has developed particular experience in investigating and defending allegations of fraud in public and private companies. AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell, Mr. McAtee has been named a "Best Lawyer in America" in antitrust (2008-2010), a "Texas Super Lawyer" (2003-2009), and a "Best Lawyer in Dallas" byD Magazine(2008-2009). In 1994-1995, he served as a Senior Law Clerk to United States District Judge Jerry Buchmeyer, then Chief Judge of the Northern District of Texas.
The BTI Client Service All-Star survey asked more than 300 corporate counsel to nominate lawyers demonstrating exceptional performance. The 164 attorneys on the all-star team represent 112 different law firms around the world.
