Houston, TX -  Nov.11, 2011 -- Haynes and Boone, LLP Partner Larry Finder has been honored by the federal judiciary and Federal Bar Association for his contribution to the administration of justice after being appointed to investigate and prosecute a U.S. Justice Department complaint filed against a sitting U.S. District Judge from New Orleans.

Along with another former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District, Ron Woods, Mr. Finder was appointed by Chief Judge Edith Jones of the United States Court of Appeals for the Firth Circuit to the case of Louisiana federal district judge G. Thomas Porteous, Jr.

The two men prosecuted the judge before the Judicial Council of the Fifth Circuit in New Orleans, and the trial record was subsequently referred to the U.S. House of Representatives for impeachment consideration. The House impeached the judge, followed by a trial in the U.S. Senate. Mr. Porteous was unanimously convicted and removed from office on Dec. 8, 2010.

At the award event, U.S. District Judge Sim Lake recounted in detail the massive task and the level of professionalism and sheer competence Mr. Finder and Mr. Woods displayed in service to the courts.
