Haynes and Boone and American Airlines Receive 2011 Law Firm of the Year Award from Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas

FORT WORTH

–Haynes and Boone, LLP and American Airlines were honored by

Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas

(LANWT) with the 2011 Outstanding Law Firm of the Year Award.

Beginning in June 2010, Haynes and Boone’s Fort Worth office and American Airlines collaborated with LANWT to take pro bono cases from LANWT and assist in furthering the mission of providing quality civil legal representation to deserving low income clients. and American Airlines attorney Lisa Zolidis, the firm partnered with attorneys at American Airlines to accept and jointly represent clients LANWT referred.

Over the past year, LANWT has referred more than 12 cases, of which most were represented by a Haynes and Boone attorney with an American Airlines attorney serving as co-counsel.

American Airlines attorneys who have participated in this program are Andrea Clark-Smith, Doug Cotton, Steffen Horlacher, K.C. Thompson, Bruce Wark and Ms. Zolidis. In addition, American Airlines attorneys Richard Malahowski and Howard Rosenthal and paralegals Cynthia Eller and Carole Vickerman currently assist by volunteering at Arlington and Grapevine LANWT legal clinics.

The American Airlines legal department supports LANWT as part of its overall commitment to pro bono service, which is strongly backed by General Counsel Gary Kennedy.

At Haynes and Boone, the firmwide Pro Bono / Public Service Committee was formed more than 20 years ago to coordinate pro bono legal work and other public service opportunities and match them to lawyers and staff. The committee includes associates and partners, and the encouragement of pro bono service is reflected in the fact that more than 70 percent of associates and about 40 percent of partners regularly undertake pro bono work.

The award ceremony took place Oct. 25. On hand to receive the award were Ms. Denney and Ms. Zolidis.
