Healogica Launches iPhone App - To Donate Proceeds to Charity
NEW YORK CITY, New York – August 3, 2009 – Healogica, Inc. today announced the launch of an innovative iPhone clinical trial application that helps patients and their loved ones search, discover and connect with clinical research studies. From pancreatic and breast cancer to diabetes, users are now able to easily search for clinical trials based on age, sex, zip code, and basic medical information. Now available at the Apple App store, Healogica’s clinical trial application costs $0.99 per download (http://appshopper.com/medical/clinical-trials-20-h...).
Healogica will be donating 50% of the proceeds from all downloads of its clinical trial iPhone app to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org) in recognition of iPhone creator and Apple CEO Steve Jobs’ battle with pancreatic islet cell cancer.
“We saw the potential of this clinical trial iPhone application to change people’s lives and are excited to help generate funding for pancreatic cancer research. Healogica’s clinical trial application on iPhone’s revolutionary platform is another advance in accelerating promising medical research,” said Healogica co-founder Jean-Luc Neptune, MD MBA, adding that “the opportunity to participate in tens of thousands of clinical trials is now literally in the palm of one’s hand.”
Commenting on Healogica’s planned donation of a portion of the download proceeds to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, Healogica co-founder Edward Shin, MD noted that “we wanted to use this application to not only recognize Steve Jobs’ fight with pancreatic islet cell cancer, but also raise awareness of the tens of thousands of individuals diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every year. The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is a national leader in the fight against pancreatic cancer, and has embraced technology and social media to further its cause.”
The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is a benefactor of Healogica’s charitable designation and no other business relationships between Healogica, Inc. and the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network currently exist.
