Heart Food Launches Online Midlands Foodie Magazine and Directory

Midlands producers "strangled" says editor.

Worcestershire, UK – 15 March 2010 – Food lovers across the heart of England can now log on and read foodie features and news across ten counties.

Heart Food combines stories from food heroes across the Midlands area with an online local food directory for people to source local ingredients and food.

Heart Food editor Rowenna Williams said: “We’ve got some of the best food and drink in the country in the midlands area - but we don't make the most of it.

"The southwest, and Cornwall in particular, never stop promoting their produce - and the Scots are canny too.

"We seem to have become complacent in the Midlands, which is a real shame. The food is there but we don't have as much finding to promote it.

"Because we live in a world dominated by big brands, it leaves many superior Midlands producers strangled. Go into a Midlands pub and you'll see people drinking Irish cider and eating Cornish pies - a complete travesty.

"Heart Food aims to help redress this balance. A growing number of recipes, features and articles will be added over the coming months, but local food producers are also encouraged to submit their own press releases and recipes. There’s even scope for local food heroes to have their own blog with the magazine."
