A former ice skater’s business is continuing to go from strength to strength in Perth.

Hermione’s Edge Wear set up by Rhoda Clark, offers bespoke clothing as well as everyday essentials for skating. Forming her business through her passion for the sport, Hermione’s Edge Wear has continued to build its global profile, receiving orders from a number of countries.

Being a trained figure skater, Rhoda is able to use her experience to ensure her products are practical and effective.

With support from Business Gateway, Rhoda opened her new city centre premises in November 2013, and is delighted to count professionals such as Mark Henretty of Dancing On Ice as customers.

Rhoda said: I have made my own equipment since I was a teenager. Years ago I made soakers (soft blade covers) for a gentleman called Mr banks who sharpened my skates, and he loved and recommended them.”

Now professionals such as Mark Henretty of Dancing on Ice have used my products. The reason Mr Banks liked my creations was because I customised them to the size of blade and took care in what I did. That has never changed.

“The support from Business Gateway has been exceptional with great advice and information, while the free workshops are well run and informative.“

“Opening the workshop was a leap of faith in putting my business skills to the test, but Business Gateway was there to support me. Now I work for myself, within a field that I love, I now look forward to getting up and going to work in the morning.”
