Announcing "HeyMath! from Singapore", an iPad app containing math resources from the curriculum of Singapore, bringing students and teachers across the world a large video lesson bank and an adaptive practice module for each topic.

Singapore, January 07 2014 - (PressReleasePoint) - Educational software company HeyMath! today announced the launch of  "HeyMath! from Singapore", an iPad app containing math learning resources from the highly successful curriculum of Singapore to teachers, students and parents.

HeyMath!, an official Partner of the Academy of Singapore Teachers, with 12 years of experience working with some of the top schools in Singapore, brings to the iPad a large video lesson bank and adaptive practice modules for each topic - so that students can check their understanding instantly.

With a focus on in-depth understanding and problem solving, the national curriculum of Singapore has propelled the small country to the top of the international league tables for math education.  With an emphasis on visual representation and higher-order math skills, the Singapore math curriculum has been adopted by many countries, including thousands of schools across the US.

Talking about the app, HeyMath! co-founder Nirmala Sankaran said, "Many countries are concerned about their math performance, and are keen to see what is working internationally. We have had a very successful collaboration with school districts in Connecticut and Massachusetts, but I also know that there are lots more teachers out there looking for innovative lesson material, and many parents who want to give their child an edge in this globally competitive world … At HeyMath!, we’ve fine-tuned our lessons over many years to perfect the pedagogy - our team always tries to show the best techniques and the most useful worked examples, and we use really colorful animations because they help bridge the divide between the visual and the abstract."

But the app is not only about the videos, students must also show that they can "master" each topic by working through questions at their own pace. Currently used by many of the top schools in Singapore and with well over half a million questions attempted so far, the practice module has been designed to provide a unique learning path for each student adapting to their strengths and weaknesses.

These practice tests are powered by smart algorithms curated by experts in the Singapore curriculum at HeyMath!. "Our algorithms mean that an unlimited number of questions can be generated, all different each time."  said Ms. Sankaran, elaborating,  "...while students can attempt different questions in a different order, our design ensures that all problem types in the curriculum are covered - mastery also means completeness!"

"HeyMath! from Singapore" has been released as a limited edition FREE app for the iPad in the App Store and also on the web. To download the app on your iPad, visit the Apple App Store.
