HFT Turning to Multi Asset Class Investment Strategies at High-Frequency Trading Leaders Forum 2013
Golden Networking hosts the World’s Most Influential High-Frequency Trading Conference Series, High Frequency Trading Leaders Forum 2013 London "Strategic and Tactical Insights for Investors, Speed Traders, Brokers and Exchanges", March 21 (http://www.High-Frequency-Trading.info)
New York, NY, United States., January 29, 2013 - (PressReleasePoint) - High frequency traders deploy sophisticated computer programs and algorithms to hunt for temporary pricing differences across markets, completing trades in a fraction of a second. However, as equity markets remain stubbornly flat and volatility rests at pre-crisis lows, high frequency trading firms have begun to reinvent themselves.
Now speed traders are turning to new asset classes as a means of finding pricing inefficiencies that can yield high returns, theme that will be covered at High-Frequency Trading Leaders Forum 2013 (http://www.High-Frequency-Trading-Conference.com) London (March 21), New York City (May 30) and Chicago (October 8), forums that will bring the most up-to-date review of where this ever-changing industry stands and is going through inspiring keynote speeches and thought-provoking panels with leaders in the field.
HFT firms had until now focused on the equities markets, where arbitrage opportunities had been easy to come by. However, declining levels of liquidity in equity markets in the US and Europe have led firms to focus more heavily on cross-asset class trading opportunities to boost profits. Speed traders were attracted by the possibility of exploiting the increase in asset correlation, whereby the prices of different types of listed asset across different markets are correlated to one another. Understanding when and how instruments respond to market events allows traders to access profitable opportunities that are less obvious to slower firms.
The dearth of volatility in the equities markets is just one driver of this interest in new asset classes. Regulation is also playing a part. The European Commission’s review of the markets in financial instruments directive, introduced in 2007 and now being updated, will widen in scope to include the fixed-income, over-the-counter derivatives and foreign exchange markets, with the aim of increasing transparency and furthering opportunities for a wider variety of asset classes to be traded electronically. Added to this is the greater capacity for the firms to trade across different markets and asset classes as financial markets become more electronic and interconnected.
High-Frequency Trading Leaders Forum 2013 (http://www.High-Frequency-Trading.info) "Strategic and Tactical Insights for Investors, Speed Traders, Brokers and Exchanges" will bring insights for investors and speed traders, who need to protect and refine their competitive advantage in a world dominated by algorithmic and high-frequency trading. Recognized practitioners, regulators, experts, and strategists will return to High-Frequency Trading Leaders Forum 2013 London, New York City and Chicago to provide hundreds of attendees with the information they are looking for in an open and unbiased environment, highly conducive to the most efficient and effective networking.
