Norwalk, CT, January 13, 2010 (PressReleasePoint) -- Bredeson Outdoor Adventures, a U.S.-based outfitter providing four season trips in Europe and New England, is announcing a guided hiking trip in Sicily, a world apart, from May 15 - 24, 2010. Fortified cities, the remote Madonie Mountains, the beautiful Aeolian Islands, fabulous food, local vintages, Greek theatres and volcanoes are just some of the highlights of this active adventure with creature comforts. The guide is a native Sicilian, who generously shares her extensive knowledge of and passion for her home.

On this cultural hiking journey adventurers will visit Segesta Archaeological Park en route to the enchanting, mountaintop medieval city of Erice, the first base. From Erice they'll set out to walk in the lovely Zingaro Nature Preserve. They'll then transfer to the quaint Madonie Mountains, where the base will be an "agriturismo," a farm-based hotel, complete with both rural charm and creature comforts. Here participants will hike among giant holly trees up to dramatic vistas, and will also visit the port city of Cefalù with its ancient alleyways and dramatic Rocca towering over the town, which they'll ascend. After that the itinerary departs from the "mainland" for several days of exploring the dramatic and varied volcanic Aeolian Islands, with the island of Lipari as a base. This amazing adventure will wind up with a stay in Taormina, the clifftop mediaeval city with views of Mount Etna, the highest volcano in Europe, visits to the Greek theater and Taormina's many piazzas and palazzos, and walk to the hilltop village of Castemola. The last full day features a hike on Mount Etna, Sicily's greatest natural attraction. The land cost for this 10 day trip is $3,650 per person double occupancy.
