Specialist prestige car storage company Storacar has found increasing demand for its secure car storage service from drivers of everyday vehicles looking for an alternative to airport parking.

Although Storacar are more used to looking after cherished Supercars such as Ferraris and Lamborghinis, for months rather than weeks, more and more owners of ordinary family cars are using the discrete Buckinghamshire based facility to keep their cars safe while on trips abroad.

Although drivers might expect to come back to find door dents and bumper scrapes when leaving their car with ‘meet and greet’ airport parking companies, stories have recently emerged of customer’s cars being written off by staff taking high speed joyrides, staff picking up parking tickets whilst using customer’s cars for shopping trips and in one instance a customer’s car actually being hired out to someone whilst they were away.

For an increasing number of people saving a few pounds on parking has become less important than knowing their car will be in exactly the same condition and with exactly the same mileage as when they left it.

Customers pay from £25.00 per week to leave their car with Storacar and then continue their journey to the airport by taxi. Storacar’s location 40 miles north of London just off the M1 means that most customers will be travelling via Heathrow, Stansted or Luton airports although they do have customers flying out of Gatwick and further afield as well. And although Storacar’s minimum charge is £100.00 regardless of how long the car is left for, customers on a two week holiday still feel it’s a price worth paying for the extra peace of mind.

Storacar have also seen a rise in the number of customers who would normally have left their car at home but travelled to the airport by taxi. Sadly, their concern is that an unscrupulous cab driver might be part of a criminal gang targeting holidaymaker’s homes while they are away. When they take a taxi to the airport from the Storacar facility they know the driver will have no idea where they live.

Martin Hoyland, Storage Manager at Storacar explains: “It’s true we’re more used to looking after Bugattis and Bentleys but now we see customers with Fords, Volvos and Volkswagens who just want to know their car is going to be well looked after during their fortnight holiday. They take great comfort that we’re trusted to look after million pound vehicles so they know we’re not the sort of company who are going to play dodgems with their pride and joy in the parking bays or take it for a spin down to Tesco when we feel like it.”
