Hollywood Film Music to be Premiered in China for the First Time February 23rd, 2013
Hollywood Love Stories – Great Romantic Film Music to be performed by the Macau Orchestra conducted by Lu Jia at the Venetian Theatre at the Venetian Macau Resort in Macau, China. Special guest performances by U.S. flutist Sara Andon and Italian violinist Paolo Morena. Event hosted and produced by Robert Townson of Varése Sarabande Records.
Los Angeles, CA, United States, February 22, 2013 - (PressReleasePoint) - Romantic Hollywood film music is headed to China, marking the first performance of film music by the Macau Orchestra and the first Hollywood film music concert in China. Conducted by Lu Jia, Great Romantic Film Music is hosted by Varése Sarabande Records’ producer Robert Townson. World-renowned U.S. flutist Sara Andon and Italian violinist Paolo Morena will be featured as part of the concert. The historic event will be held on February 23, 2013 at the Venetian Macau Resort and Hotel, in Macau, China. The event marks the debut concert of an illustrious collection of romantic film music from American and International composers. The Venetian Resort and Hotel is the largest gambling casino in the world. The revenues generated through gambling in Macau are five times greater than Las Vegas. The film music of American composers Jerry Goldsmith, Alex North, John Williams, Dave Grusin, Bernard Herrmann, Michael Kamen, James Horner and Henry Mancini will be featured, as well as international composers including England’s John Barry, France’s Georges Delerue, Scotland’s Patrick Doyle and Craig Armstrong, and Italy’s Nino Rota. Sara Andon’s program will feature the premier performance of Georges Delerue’s Academy Award-winning theme from A Little Romance and a special arrangement of Alex North’s Love Theme from Spartacus.
Flutist SARA ANDON is an international soloist and recording artist known for her ravishing tone and deeply engaging musical interpretations. She is a versatile performer in many music genres including solo, chamber, symphonic, opera, ballet, jazz and Broadway. Andon has performed at concerts venues, TV and radio broadcasts worldwide. Additionally, her performances can be heard on numerous film soundtracks.
PAOLO MORENA is an acclaimed Italian violinist who has previously been featured as a guest with the Macau Orchestra. Winner of many international violin competitions, Morena is described as “The Most Notable Violinist of the New Generation.” Academy® Award winning composer Luis Bacalov (Il Postino) dedicated his first Concerto Grosso, for violin and orchestra, to Morena. Morena has recorded for Decca Records and RAI, Italy’s premier television network.
Founded in 1978, Varése Sarabande was the first label to specialize in film music, releasing both new films scores and issuing classics from the Golden Age of Hollywood. The most prolific film music label in the world, Varése Sarabande currently has over 1500 soundtracks in its catalogue, which grows by 60 to 70 film scores each year. This year marks the label’s 35th anniversary; Varése Sarabande will be hosting a series of concerts in Southern California and throughout the world including in Spain, Poland, and Vienna.
