How Dare An American Airline Insult Kalam

Can there anything be more insulting and disgusting than the frisking of a former President that too in his own country? Well, words fail us this time round when we think of that shameful incident which happened at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport on April 24 with none other than the former President APJ Abdul Kalam.

Can there anything be more insulting and disgusting than the frisking of a former President that too in his own country? Well, words fail us this time round when we think of that shameful incident which happened at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport on April 24 with none other than the former President APJ Abdul Kalam.

Kalam was on his way to Newark on Continental Airlines’ Flight CO 083, when he was put to what is called the second line of security check. The former President had to surrender before the security staff and remove his footwear for a complete security check. If that wasn't enough, his wallet, mobile and other belongings were also put through an X-ray check.

The Indian staff of the airline's security felt helpless frisking their own former President. "It was awkward, but we were doing our duty. We had to check him like a normal passenger since that was what our American boss wanted," one of them said.

We at Zopag.com want to know if the dignity of a former President is dependent on some ‘American boss’? Or at the whims and fancies of some airline?

Just a show cause notice won’t do. The Govt must take strict action and suspend the operation of the concerned airline.
