WARD COUNTY – A project to rebuild a 9-mile section of Interstate 20 between Pyote and Wickett in Ward is set to begin the week of Monday, March 6, 2017.

All four lanes will be rebuilt as part of the project. There will be lane closures.

The limits of the project are from 1.5 miles west of FM 1927 near Pyote to FM 1219 near Wickett. The project will include three major intersections. The contractor plans to start on the west end of the project and work in 2-mile segments. There may be more than one segment being worked on at a time, but the segments won’t be continuous.

The speed limit will be reduced to 70 miles per hour in the work zone. There will be times when lanes will be restricted to widths of 12 feet.

Motorists should use extreme caution in the work zone. An increased law enforcement presence is likely within the project limits.

The project is expected to take about 18 months.

Jones Brothers Dirt & Paving Contractors of Odessa won the project with a bid of almost $13.2 million.
