IATA approves new CUPPS standard and SITA wins certification
Date:18 March 2010
Location:Geneva
It's official. SITA is now the first platform provider to be certified as being compliant with CUPPS (Common Use Passenger Processing Systems) version 1.01 since IATA published the first CUPPS Technical Specification in November 2009, setting a new standard for passenger processing in the 21st century.
CUPPS version 1.01 is the first released version of the CUPPS Technical Specification under IATA Recommended Practice 1797 and will gradually replace the CUTE (Common Use Terminal Equipment) check-in and boarding standard.
Ilya Gutlin, SITA Vice President, Airport Solution Line, said: "SITA is proud to have taken the technology lead in developing CUPPS in this unique industry initiative. CUPPS will make a significant difference to airlines as it eliminates the need to develop separate applications to work with different platforms, thereby resulting in major cost savings."
SITA is currently working with several airlines to test their applications to ensure CUPPS readiness.
