Chennai 36- IIT Madras’ Alumni Blog was started in October 2013 with the aim of bridging the gap between alumni, students and faculty of the institute. The blog is run by a team of students working with the Office of International and Alumni Relations, IIT Madras

Chennai 36- IIT Madras’ Alumni Blog was started in October 2013 with the aim of bridging the gap between alumni, students and faculty of the institute. The blog is run by a team of students working with the Office of International and Alumni Relations, IIT Madras. The team hopes that every alumnus gives back to his/her alma mater and a first step, share their experiences on Life at IIT and afterwards. Besides having articles on alumni careers, the International Women’s Day on March 7th saw 9 successful alumna of the institute coming together to share their experiences as well as advice for the students. The blog also carries regular articles which the team hopes will help the students make informed choices regarding placements (The Placement Guru), applying abroad (The Grad Guru), starting up (The Startup Guru) and Civil Services.

"My father was an orphan from Mangalore. He lost his mother when he was 3 , and then his grandfather  when he was 12 . He was one of four children, so his other siblings were sent to live with various relatives. However, he went to school and was an active sportsman, did his Bachelor’s degree and became a teacher at Madras Christian College. He later, went on to become the Principal of Hyderabad Public School." says Prem Watsa, Chairman of Fairfax Financial Holdings. In an exclusive interview with the Editors of Chennai 36, the usually elusive Mr. Watsa opened up regarding his life at and after IIT Madras.
