Palaj, Gandhinagar, October 16, 2015 -(PressReleasePoint)- After travelling across the country for six weeks, a group of students of Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) will share their experiences and knowledge through a presentation on Saturday (October 17). The group of 16 students formed six groups to cover the length and breadth of the country through the “Explorer’s Fellowship” of IITGN.

The Explorer’s Fellowship aims to expose the students to the country’s diversity so that they can understand the many traditions and ground realities, learn from them and become better decision makers. The fellowship amount goes up to Rs 50000 per student.

IITGN Faculty and dean of students Prof Jaison Manjaly said, “The fellowship will enable students to see, experience and connect to different cultures, people and geographic patterns of the country.

One of the students who traveled through the fellowship said, “We travelling for 6 weeks in more than 10 states. This changed our perspective about several things. The priceless experiences that we gained from this exploration cannot be compared with anything else. From an engineer’s perspective we saw many problems that can be solved through simple ways. Some of the issues like road safety, delay in railways, landslides, lack of sustainable bridges, roads and architecture grabbed out attention.”

The Explorer’s Fellowship was introduced this year. The application of a student for this fellowship is evaluated on the basis of originality and feasibility of the proposal and performance in interview. After returning, the students have to submit their reports describing their experiences and objectives achieved. The students are also required to make a presentation about their experience and learning.
