Mitsui & Co., Ltd. ("Mitsui") offers its sympathies to those affected by the devastating earthquake of March 11 that struck the Pacific side of the Tohoku region.
We would like to inform that Mitsui has not experienced any major damage to its facilities including those at our Tohoku office and that its employees are all safe and unharmed, and it is in operation today. We are currently checking the situations of our affiliated companies. We will issue updates on our situation from time to time on our website.
We would also like to announce that we will make a cash contribution, in addition to the initial donation announced earlier, to aid the emergency relief efforts of the hundreds of thousands of rescue personnel and citizens. Please know that we have in our thoughts those directly affected by the disaster as they begin the process of healing and rebuilding in the days, weeks and months to come.
