Inaugural Aspen Dental Practice Ownership Summit Provides Leadership Training

Aspen Dental, a leading provider of dentures and dental care services, conducted employee leadership training for dentists and other personnel at the World Business Forum.

Aspen Dental’s group practice owners and leadership team members gathered in New York City on October 5th for the company’s first Aspen Dental Leadership Summit. The three-day meeting included attendance at the 6th annual World Business Forum (WBF) at Radio City Music Hall where an array of presenters, including former President Bill Clinton and award-winning director and innovator George Lucas, spoke on topics ranging from leadership and teambuilding to innovation and branding. The group of dental professionals included 35 practice owners with three or more office locations and management leaders from several functional areas including Marketing, Human Resources, Finance and Training & Development.

The program provided time for a facilitated “best practices” session that provided an opportunity for dental practice owners and members of Aspen’s leadership team to share insights and ideas generated by WBF presenters. Take-a-ways from the working session centered on enhanced leadership skills and the importance of open and ongoing communication in developing quality employee teams and business strategies. Program participants were urged to incorporate the many discussion topics into daily operations to drive innovation at the individual practice level and for the entire Aspen Dental team.

“The summit was an amazing opportunity for me. I’m a dentist who has had to start thinking like a business owner. My reality is that I manage a group practice – I’m no longer a dentist who owns eight offices, I own a business,” said Dr. Shekhar Gupta. “I know that my development and my understanding of what it takes to be a solid leader can grow each individual office, but now I have a foundation from which to grow my business.”
