Inbound Logistics' Top Green Supply Chain Partners of 2011 includes Aspen Logistics, Inc.
Inbound Logistics Magazine has Named Aspen Logistics, Inc to its Listing of the Top 75 Green Supply Chain Partners.
Temecula, California, United States of America July 05, 2011 -– Inbound Logistics Magazine announces that Aspen Logistics, Inc. has been named as one their top 75 Green Supply Chain Partners for 2011. Aspen is a third-party logistics (3PL) carrier whose assets are based in the western half of the United States, with services throughout the nation through its extended networks. They handle a number of products from various manufacturers, but primarily warehouse and transport consumables, i.e. food, pet food, and pharmaceuticals. Inbound Logistics Magazine is a trade magazine that is the premier resource for the latest in news and trends within the supply chain and logistics industry. Those selected for the 75 Green Supply Chain Partners have been recognized for their sustainability (green) efforts within their operations. The magazine editors determined the selected by who are truly "walking the walk" when it comes to commitment to supply chain sustainability. The magazine judged nominees based on their strategies, the extent of steps being taken, the impact of the results to date, and their recognition among industry peers and customers. Aspen is honored to achieve this recognition. Connie Anderson, President of Aspen has stated that the company is always reviewing their environmental footprint in every project undertaken. Sustainability is a critical element in bringing a long term value to customer operations. Aspen takes steps to thoroughly investigate areas where improvement in sustainability can be made, or where their own internal programs can compliment those of the customer.
Aspen Logistics is always examining benchmarks and how their operations compare to those in the industry. It is their aim to remain the competitive leader at all times and to offer a significant amount of cutting-edge differentiation. This drive to be industry leading in performance has transitioned into a strong push on sustainability. In the 3PL’s eyes, sustainability and best-in-class performance are synonymous. Certainly benchmarks offer synergies. Lean-performance driven strategies are dependent on keeping a certain level of sustainability in focus. The Inbound Logistics’ article states “. . . Inbound Logistics gives the green light to supply chain visionaries who every day demonstrate their commitment to sustainability.” For Aspen their commitment to sustainability is a commitment to the performance of their operations.
Aspen Logistics is a member of both the EPA’s SmartWays Partnership Program as well as the ATA, meeting their strict guidelines for sustainability. The company is committed to their green strategies. Some of these strategies include the retrofitting of all of their facilities with high-efficiency fluorescent lighting, resulting in a measurable reduction in power and pollutant gases. Each facility routinely checks refrigeration systems maintenance to prohibit the release of CFC in the atmosphere. A recycling program has been put in place for all paper, cardboard, used pallets, and printer suppliers. These, before said examples, led to Aspen being recognized for the Orion Environmental Stewardship Award. The company hopes that steps like these will provide for a cleaner and less impactful supply chain on the environment.
