Leading research firm says applying analytics to incident management process a critical part of companies’ APM strategies

MELVILLE, N.Y. Nastel Technologies, a premier global provider of application performance monitoring (APM) solutions for mission-critical applications from the datacenter to the cloud, today announced that Nastel AutoPilot® has been identified as an innovative and flexible solution for Application Performance Management in a report prepared by global research and advisory firm Forrester Research. The report, authored by Jean-Pierre Garbani, vice president and principal analyst serving infrastructure and operations (I&O) professionals for Forrester, says that innovative solutions in application performance management “can help infrastructure and operations teams increase their productivity in incident and problem management.”

In the Forrester report, Garbani writes that there are two key features on which I&O professionals tend to focus when it comes to performance management: getting alerted to problems before the end user is affected and being pointed in the right direction to fix these problems. He says that complex event processing (CEP) can overcome the major stumbling blocks that impede performance management and have the ability to trigger automated notifications.

According to the report, what makes Nastel AutoPilot innovative in meeting these needs is its ability to achieve this automation by instinctively discovering and presenting transaction flows, providing visibility into transactions and providing an analytics engine that can be used for automated root-cause identification and decision-making.

“While all of Nastel’s competitors offer transaction topology mapping and some level of integration and analytics, the key to Nastel AutoPilot’s appeal is actually bringing these three elements together and bridging all monitoring silos,” writes Garbani in the report. “I&O execs that operate business-critical, complex transactional applications need a technology such as CEP to increase their teams’ productivity and scale up their APM solution to meet their ever growing business demands.”
