Screen Australia is pleased to present, in collaboration with MIFF Accelerator, legendary international film executive Alison Thompson ‘in conversation’ with veteran film journalist and SBS TV presenter Sandy George. This is a wonderful opportunity for screen industry practitioners to hear Alison’s insider perspective on the world of international film sales and the commercial realities of quality independent cinema.

Previously co-president of Focus Features International and Head of Sales at Pathé Pictures, Alison has worked with high-profile films such as Brokeback Mountain, The Motorcycle Diaries, Moonrise Kingdom and The Constant Gardener.

Through the 1990s, Alison was also the Chief Executive of The Sales Company, one of the UK’s top sales agencies. During her 14 years there, she represented more than 100 films from the world’s most celebrated directors.

In January this year, she formed Sunray Films Limited, a London-based sales and production company whose aim is to cultivate a diverse range of films from a wealth of sources and to present bold works that deliver global commercial and critical success.
