Innovative plastics solutions provider Borouge confirms participation at the InnovHealth 2010 summit in Abu Dhabi
Borouge has come on-board for the InnovHealth 2010 summit, which is taking place on April 25th – 26th 2010 at the Yas Island Rotana in Abu Dhabi.
Innovative plastics solutions provider Borouge has come on-board for the InnovHealth 2010 summit, which is taking place on April 25th – 26th 2010 at the Yas Island Rotana in Abu Dhabi. This strategic platform for Middle Eastern healthcare leaders is endorsed by the Ministry of Health, United Arab Emirates.
Commenting on the company’s participation, vice president of Borouge Film and Moulding, Gilles Rochas said: “Borouge actively encourages innovation, making InnovHealth the perfect platform from which to showcase our healthcare solutions such as our Bormed product range. Healthcare is one of the key application segments of our advanced packaging business unit, which includes extrusion, such as film, blister and pouches – and moulding, meaning the injection moulding of medical devices and packaging, as well as blow moulding of bottles, ampoules and containers. Our technology is capable of making unique grades for specific applications in the medical field.”
Borouge will be highlighting Bormed™ LE6609-PH, which is marketed globally by Borouge and Borealis, at InnovHealth 2010. This latest addition to its Bormed range of dedicated polyolefins (polyethylene and polypropylene) for healthcare applications is used for pharmaceutical packaging for intravenous solutions and medicines. Bormed LE6609-PH was introduced to the market in mid-2009 to meet demands for greater security in sterilised products as well as reductions in material use and more efficient manufacturing.
“We do not see effects of the global economic downturn in the medical industry.” said Russell Tew, marketing manager, Borouge Film & Moulding, “Overall, phenomena like ageing populations and the growth of welfare diseases in the developed world, as well as a strong government focus on improving healthcare in developing countries overrule the slowdown of the world economy.”
Borouge, Borealis’ joint venture with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), will triple its polyolefins manufacturing capacity to 2 million tonnes of polyolefins per year (t/y) by mid-2010 with an additional 2.5 million t/y scheduled for 2013. Borealis and Borouge currently manufactures 4 million t/y polyolefins.
InnovHealth 2010 – produced by business information company, naseba - is the region’s most up-to-date summit, focusing on the latest developments in healthcare product solutions in medical research, technological development, equipment, infrastructure, pharmaceuticals and more. Several high-profile experts will speak at the event, covering a diverse range of topics. Speakers include the director general of the Ministry of Health (UAE), Dr. Salem Al Darmaki; director of Public Health for the Dubai Health Authority, Dr. Ali Hassan Al Marzooqi and vice president of Siemens Healthcare – Middle East, Maurice Faber.
Facilitating strategic networking in a five-star environment, the two-day summit invites high-profile healthcare leaders from across the region, all of whom will benefit from informative conference sessions and panel discussions.
According to media reports, Middle East governments are investing heavily in healthcare, with the introduction of compulsory health insurance being implemented throughout the region. The region’s healthcare sector is said to stand at $74billion and is projected to grow by 16% annually.
