Inox Wind announces commencement of commercial production of its WTG manufacturing unit at Una, Himachal Pradesh

Inox Wind Limited (IWL), a part of the Inox Group, and a subsidiary of Gujarat Fluorochemicals Limited, proudly announces successful commissioning and commencement of commercial production of its Wind Turbine Generator manufacturing unit situated at Khasra No. 264 to 267, Industrial Area, Village Basal 174103, District Una, Himachal Pradesh. On 26th March, the Una unit dispatched its first unit comprising of nacelle(s) and hub(s) for its 2MW wind turbine.

Inox Wind Limited, incorporated in April 2009, is investing around Rs.150 crores to set up manufacturing facilities located at Una, Himachal Pradesh and Bawla, Gujarat. While the Himachal Pradesh unit will be manufacturing nacelles and hubs, the Gujarat unit will be making blades and towers for the wind turbines.

IWL's 2MW wind turbine is based on double-fed induction generator wind turbine design and will be manufactured under a global license provided by Austria based AMSC Windtec. AMSC Windtec is a wholly owned subsidiary of USA based American Superconductor Corporation which is a leading energy technologies company which, besides being a leader in alternative energy, offers an array of proprietary technologies and solutions spanning the electric power infrastructure.

IWL is a closely held company. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Devansh Jain, one of the Directors said “We are delighted to announce the commencement of commercial production of our Una unit, to manufacture nacelles and hubs for wind turbines. This initiative will help chart the Inox Group’s diversification strategy in the renewable energy space, and provide green energy for India’s growth needs, in an environmentally responsible manner.”
